Here's one of our favourites to start you off:
Barbequed bananas:
For each person: 1 banana, Small knob of butter, pinch or two of spice (cinnamon, ginger or mixed spice are best), 1 teaspoon brown sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice.
Peel banana and put on piece of kitchen foil. Sprinkle sugar & spice and put butter & lemon juice on the top. Wrap in a leakproof parcel. Cook for a few minutes upside down – so that the butter melts, then turn the right way up and cook until soft – but not mushy or burnt! This will depend on the heat of the barbeque. Serve. Ice cream, cream or crème Frache all go well with these.
If you don’t have any foil:
Slit the banana along the top edge, into the flesh, without peeling it. Mix spices, sugar, lemon juice and butter together, and fill the slit. Barbeque gently one way up only!
